Dream start: Bolzano is already spreading fear and terror

With great fanfare, HC Bozen put together a team in the summer that has one goal: to bring the trophy back to South Tyrol for the first time since 2018. The Foxes are among the hottest title favorites - and lived up to this reputation on Friday at the start of the league. The white-reds celebrated a 5-0 landslide victory against the Black Wings from Linz!

This means that Bozen has warmed up for Sunday. The second match day in the ICE will see the big derby against arch rivals HC Pustertal, who suffered a 2:5 defeat against Fehervar in the opening match The Sparkasse Arena, which was already well filled with more than 2.000 fans on Friday, is likely to turn into a witches' cauldron.

On Friday, the HCB showed off its impressive offensive power against the guests from Linz. Brad McClure (he scored twice), the tireless Daniel Mantenuto, but also Cristiano DiGiacinto and star newcomer Adam Helewka showed their class again and again. But the man of the match was to be found on the other side of the ice and his name is: Sam Harvey!

Harvey with brilliant performance The Bozen goalie celebrated a shutout in the first game. Harvey, who missed a large part of the preparations due to the early death of his father, not only brought the fans to their feet with some brilliant saves, but also breathed a huge amount of confidence into his team. Hardly a puck bounced forward, but countless of the 23 Linz shots disappeared into Harvey's catching hand. This was worth its weight in gold, especially in the few tricky situations.

Harvey was rightly loudly celebrated by the fans after the game. He probably wouldn't mind if that were repeated on Sunday against Pustertal. This is how the goal show went Braden and Brad Bozen quickly takes the lead! First, new signing Braden Christoffer deflects a Scott Valentine shot with his back to make it 1-0, thus scoring the first HCB goal of the season (12th). Then Brad McClure scores a dream goal: He grabs the puck in his own zone, runs away from the defenders on the breakaway, circles the goal and scores to make it 2-0 (17th). Infernal Trio Bozen's parade line strikes! Matt Bradley passes to Dustin Gazley, who puts the puck back into the slot in no-look style, where Adam Helewka only has to push it in (38'). Magical Cristiano DiGiacinto scores a very difficult goal to make it 4-0. The Bolzano striker runs away from the opponent's goal and sends the puck to the goal with a backhand, where Rasmus Tirronen, who was not entirely at fault, lets it pass (40th minute). In the final third, the HCB also scores with a power play: McClure deflected a puck perfectly to make the final score 5-0 (44th minute).
