Villach is the HCB terror

Two teams that were brimming with self-confidence met in Bolzano: here was the league leader, who had recently won seven games in a row. Because VSV won a game against arch-rivals Klagenfurt on Sunday for the first time in almost seven years. The season's balance was 2-1 for the Carinthians, with the Füchse being successful in the last duel shortly before the turn of the year. In the duel between the second-best (Villach) and third-best offensive (Bozen) in the league, the fans could expect fireworks. Expectations were not disappointed. While the Foxes initially succeeded better, things changed in the middle third when the Eagles – led by Anthony Luciani – gained the upper hand. Both goalies came under fire, but Jean-Philippe Lamoureux appeared more confident that evening than his counterpart Sam Harvey. That ultimately made the difference. While the American showed numerous great feats, the Canadian was not without mistakes.

Harvey was not without fault in both Luciani's 2-1 and Arturs Kulda's 4-2. The fact that offensive artist Mitch Hults didn't have his best day contributed to the defeat. This is by no means a blow to the Hanlon team - even if the Füchse had to give up the championship lead to Red Bull Salzburg. HCB Südtirol Alperia has a fearsome opponent: in front of a great backdrop in the Sparkasse Arena, the Füchse had to admit defeat to Villacher SV for the third time in the current season on Friday. An old acquaintance, Anthony Luciani, was mainly responsible for the defeat.
