3 Zinnen and Pike have nerves of steel

The 18th matchday of the Italian Hockey League (IHL) demanded a lot from the South Tyrolean clubs – the HC 3 Zinnen Dolomites and SV Kaltern even showed nerves of steel.

They gave away two leads, made up a deficit twice and finally landed the lucky punch. The HC 3 Zinnen Dolomites achieved a dramatic victory over Hockey Pergine Sapiens on Saturday evening.

In Toblach, the Eisbären beat the guests from Trentino 6:5 and drew level with them in the table. Mykhailo Krasnozhon scored the decisive goal just four minutes before the final whistle and became the hero of the evening. The South Tyroleans are now unbeaten in three games.

SV Kaltern also didn't let themselves be defeated and, despite two lost leads against HC Aosta, still left the ice as winners. Oskari Mikael Siiki decided the game in favor of the Hechte, who celebrated their fifth victory in a row and thus extended their lead over second-placed Aosta to nine points.

Meanwhile, the HC Falcons Brixen had an evening to forget. The cathedral city team suffered a 1:5 defeat against Varese.
