Déjà vu in the final: Kaltern and the title defense

With three championship titles since 2019, SV Kaltern is the most successful team in the recent history of the Italian Hockey League. This year, the Pike are aiming to defend their IHL title. They will face their opponent from last year once again.

Kaltern defeated HC Aosta 4-2 in last year's final series. The South Tyrolean team is considered a slight favorite again this year in the best-of-seven series – even though Aosta is looking for revenge. Kaltern has home-ice advantage in the final. The action kicks off on Saturday at the Raiffeisen Arena.

However, Aosta has been in top form in the playoffs so far. Luca Giovinazzo's team swept both their quarterfinal and semifinal series 3-0. During the regular season, however, Kaltern clearly dominated the IHL. The South Tyrolean team won their first three matches against Aosta relatively easily this year, before suffering a 1-5 home defeat at the end of the Master Round just over a month ago.
