The pirates succeed in their liberation attack.

On the sixth matchday of the intermediate round in the Italian Hockey League (IHL), HC Eppan showed a strong performance and was able to celebrate a home victory against Varese.

The start of the Master Round went well for the pirates They were cautious. In their first five matches, the Überetsch team only won once and, with 27 goals conceded, had the worst defense of the top six. However, none of these weaknesses were evident on Saturday evening – the final score was 3-1.


Jagger Williamson put the hosts ahead 1-0 after 14 minutes. In the second period, Leo Messner (33rd minute) and Matthias Pardatscher (40th minute) increased the lead to 3-0. In the final 20 minutes, the South Tyroleans skillfully defended their advantage and secured a well-deserved victory.

Kaltern also wins

The experienced South Tyrolean, who has previously played for the Unterland Cavaliers and HC Gröden, briefly put the hosts ahead with a goal and an assist within 90 seconds, after Mason Emoff had already narrowed the gap in the ninth minute. Joonas Alanne equalized at 3-3 with 38 seconds remaining in the first period. After a scoreless second period, Andreas Vinatzer, Mikael Saha, and Luca De Donà secured the victory for the Pike.

Victories in the Qualification Round

Matches were played not only in the Master Round but also in the Qualifying Round. The two South Tyrolean representatives, who continue to fight for a place in the quarterfinals, each celebrated a victory. While the Falcons from Brixens After their 3-1 away win in Feltre, HC 3 Zinnen Dolomites showed great character against Valpellice, turning a 0-2 deficit into a victory after a penalty shootout. Hector Majul scored the decisive goal.
