Eppan fights for the Masterround

On Saturday, three South Tyrolean clubs were on the ice in the IHL. Only Eppan was able to celebrate an important 6:2 home victory. Brixen and the HC Drei Zinnen Dolomites, on the other hand, are heading home without any points.

The regular season of the IHL championship has already entered the home stretch. While SV Kaltern has been qualified for the master round – the quarter finals – for weeks, the Eppaner Pirates are still fighting for this. To do this, the Überetsch team must finish the first phase of the season among the top 6.

The Überetsch team took an important step in this direction with a 6:2 victory in their home game against Valpellice. In the first third, the Pirates took a 19:1 lead in the 0th minute through Daniel Eruzione. He added to the lead shortly after the start of the middle period and increased it to 2:0. After the guests' consolation goal in the 37th minute, Eruzione completed his perfect evening with a hat trick in the 44th minute. Andreas Radin, Crystopher Collin and Alan Schwingshackl then extended the lead further. However, the guests put the finishing touches 50 seconds before the end.

Without points in the distance

The HC Drei Zinnen Dolomites had to play away against the promoted team from Aosta. The South Tyroleans had to experience first hand that the league newcomer, who this week secured the services of the former HC Val Gardena defender Matteo Luisetti, is one of the absolute favorites for the title. In the end, they lost 2:9. After just 20 minutes, the South Tyroleans were already 1:3 behind, with Mattia Covelli scoring to temporarily make it 1:2. After a very exciting middle period, in which the aforementioned Luisetti was the only one to score, the cracks from Toblach were completely overwhelmed in the third period. Between minutes 42 and 59, Aosta scored five more goals and made it 9:1. The second goal of the evening for the Drei Zinnen Dolomites was just cosmetic.

The Falcons from Brixens had to return home from Valdifiemme without any points. The Eisacktal team, who handed over the red lantern to Como on Thursday, lost 2:5. The Brixen team were not present offensively, especially at the beginning. As a result, the guests had to wait a full 39 minutes for the first goal. Bogdan Stupak scored to make it 3:1. Marco Niccolai reduced the score again a little later, but the hosts proved to have more staying power with their last two goals of the evening.
