After the championship title, things went quiet in the Hechte clubhouse. While squad planning is in full swing behind the scenes, nothing has been made public yet. That changed on Thursday: As SV Kaltern announced on social media, Teemu Virtala will continue to be in charge for the upcoming season.

The 41-year-old came to Kaltern as a player in 2020 and ended his career last year after four seasons with the Hechte. Immediately afterward, the club promoted him to head coach of the first team. A bold decision, but one that proved to be the right one. Under Virtala, the Überetsch team won the regular season convincingly, then stormed to their third title in the last seven years. In 2021, Virtala had lifted the IHL Cup as a player.

Not only has the coach been confirmed, but several players are also said to have signed new contracts with the Hechten. The first squad updates are expected in the coming days.
