In its own arena: Ritten triumphs internationally

Thanks to the 5:3 triumph against HDD Acroni Jesenice, the blue-reds won their group on Sunday. They were celebrated by 738 fans.

The duel between the Rittner Buam SkyAlps and Jesenice has a long history, and in recent years the two teams have fought numerous epic battles. The rivalry was immediately noticeable on Sunday evening, with both teams playing hard and quips being exchanged time and again. This did not deter the Buam, who took the lead in the first power play: Szypula took aim from the half-right position and nailed the puck into the short top corner (5.57).

After that, the boys were two men down on the ice, but somehow managed to fend off all of the Slovenians' shots. Slivnik did better towards the end of the first period, his shot from the second row flew right into the left corner (15.17). In the final minute, Manuel Öhler and Lobis could have made it 2:1, but Jesenice goalie Us was there with his pads on both occasions (19.).

Goalie blunder decides the game But it worked right after the restart, when Giacomuzzi was freed by Manuel Öhler in the deep slot and made it 2-1 with a one-timer (21.16). One and a half minutes later, the Rittner goal siren sounded again. Cuglietta and Lobis started a counterattack together, the latter then scored into the empty net - a very beautifully played goal (22.47).

The game became increasingly rougher and when first Svetina and then Sillanpaa made it 3:3 - first after a breakaway (27.34), then in the power play with a deflection (31.26) - the game was open again. This made the Rittner Buam a little nervous and they kept getting unnecessary time penalties, but they didn't concede any more goals.

In the final third, both teams initially had difficulties and rarely came close to the goal because neither team wanted to take any risks. But then Us made a devastating mistake: He missed the puck with his paddle, Kevin Fink became the beneficiary and pushed it into the empty net to make it 4:3 (50.56). This inspired the Buam, who then had the fifth goal on their sticks several times. The victory was then sealed by Cuglietta, who was sent beautifully deep by Lobis and remained ice-cold in front of Us (58.06). Jesenice could no longer catch up and it was clear: The Rittner Buam SkyAlps will travel to Zilina in Slovakia for the third round from 15 to 17 November.

Sisak takes first win at the end While the evening game was the final for advancement to the 3rd round of the IIHF Continental Cup, the afternoon match between Sokil Kiev and KHL Sisak was the match for third place in the tournament in Klobenstein. A match that the Croatian AlpsHL club won 3:4.

The Rittner Buam SkyAlps will travel to Slovakia in November for the third round of the IIHF Continental Cup. The South Tyroleans snatched victory in the “final” of the home tournament on Sunday evening.
