Ingemar Gruber: “We want to defend the Supercup”

Our trainer Erwin Kostner in particular left me with a very good first impression. “He speaks a lot to all the players, especially the locals, for whom he has already become an important reference person,” says Ritten captain Ingemar Gruber.

Good preparation phase by the Rittners Although the team first has to find itself, Gruber believes in victory on Thursday. “The preparation phase went very well. We've already played some good games in the preparatory games and that's why I think we're well prepared for the Supercup game. Many say that the Supercup is just a farmers' cup. We don’t agree and we absolutely want to defend him,” continued the 33-year-old from Merano.

However, there were almost no changes in Ritten's opponents Asiago, who played almost the same team as last year when they became champions. “I think that this is the great strength of Asiago. Most of the players have been confirmed, the coach has also remained the same. This is certainly an advantage for them because they are blindly familiar with the system they are playing with,” believes Gruber.

But strength of the opponent or not – for Ritten Sport the only thing that counts on Thursday is victory. This also fits with the guidelines that the board set on Saturday when presenting the team for the upcoming championship - “We don’t want to come second anymore.”
