As if Hitchcock was pulling the strings

I have never experienced such a final day at a World Cup. Up until this year's home World Cup, I had taken part in 15 tournaments: 5 times at an A-World Cup and 10 times at a so-called B-World Cup. In all these years I have witnessed 6 promotions of the “Azzurri” first hand, but I also had to report on 2 relegations. In any case, last Saturday will remain in my memory for a long time.

After all, almost anything was possible before the last 3 games. The only thing that was certain was that Slovenia had secured early promotion to the top division. On the 2th day, three teams fought for the second promotion place, with only Hungary having promotion in their own hands. Italy and Romania, on the other hand, were dependent on support.
