Finland's men's team wins bronze

Finland secured the bronze medal in the men's ice hockey tournament at the Olympic Games in Milan and Cortina d'Ampezzo.

The gold medalists from Beijing won the bronze medal match against Slovakia 6-1 on Saturday. Unlike their semifinal loss to Canada (2-3), in which the Finns squandered a 2-0 lead, they left no doubt about the outcome this time. This victory marked Finland's twelfth Olympic medal in men's volleyball and their ninth bronze.

Sebastian Aho opened the scoring in the eighth minute, tapping in a rebound. A powerful shot from Erik Haula midway through the second period made it 2-0, before Tomas Tatar gave the Slovaks hope with a successful solo effort shortly before the end of the period.

Finland nipped this in the bud in the final period: First, Roope Hintz deflected the ball decisively, and 42 seconds later Kaapo Kakko scored precisely into the corner. Joel Armia and Haula then added two empty-net goals at the end.
