Italy's dream of promotion has shattered

Even before the tournament started, many experts had already circled this day; after all, the nominally strongest teams met. But the fact that only one of these nations would return to the top division came as a surprise. Because Poland had already secured promotion in the afternoon with a 6-2 win against Romania. So the big showdown took place on Friday evening in front of a worthy backdrop in the Motorpoint Arena. It was by far the most impressive match of this World Cup. Goals, excitement and emotions characterized a game that was ultimately won by the hosts 5-3.

Both teams put on an extremely courageous performance in front of over 5500 fans. True to the motto: Attack is the best defense. They didn't put much emphasis on defense, so there were chances almost every minute and the goalies had to repeatedly intervene to save the game. Several goals were preceded by serious individual errors - especially on the part of the Azzurri. They did not manage to overcome the misfires that they had already made in the previous games. The passes arrived too rarely, the assignment was lost too often and discipline also remained a problem. At least the Blue Team exuded enthusiasm going forward, which somewhat concealed the obvious defensive weaknesses.

The bottom line, however, is the Brits' deserved 5-3 win, which gives them direct promotion again. Italy, on the other hand, remains stuck in the second division and has to put up with some questions - especially since the Olympic Games in their own country are just around the corner.
