Damian Clara, the third-string goaltender for the California team, boarded a plane immediately afterward. His destination: Fribourg, where he will join Italy's roster for the World Championship.

The 21-year-old arrived in Fribourg late Saturday evening and watched the final period between Italy and Canada from the stands. Clara witnessed a stellar performance from Davide Fadani, whose saves repeatedly frustrated the opposing superstars. The South Tyrolean would be eligible to play against Slovakia on Sunday, but the midday game (12:20 p.m.) is likely too soon for the Azzurri's star player, given the arduous journey. However, there is nothing preventing him from playing against Norway on Tuesday (4:20 p.m.).
