S+"Time to shine": A summer fairytale without party crashers

Who doesn't remember these images? Twenty years ago, Germany lived its great World Cup dream, a summer fairytale like no other. We're not talking about ice hockey, but football.

Weeks of sunshine transformed German city centers into giant party zones, where fans from all over the world celebrated peacefully. Watching football together in public squares and beer gardens experienced its mass breakthrough. Public viewing was born. It was a celebration – until Fabio Grosso, Alessandro Del Piero, and the Italians pulled the plug on the music. With the semi-final victory over Germany, the 2006 World Cup suddenly turned deep azure blue. Just as azure blue as the sky over Switzerland these days. The sun is taking the official tournament slogan "Time to shine" at the Ice Hockey World Championship quite literally.
