2027 World Cup: The Blue Team has to go to Estonia

The venues for the 2027 World Championships were determined at the annual congress of the International Ice Hockey Federation (IIHF) in Zurich.

Italy's men's national team travels to Tallinn, Estonia. After being relegated from the A-World Championship, the Azzurri will compete in Division I Group A from May 1st to 7th, 2027, aiming for promotion back to the top tier. Captain Alex Trivellato and his teammates will face Great Britain, Poland, France, Lithuania, and host nation Estonia.

The unique aspect: This time, the teams are not competing for two, but only for one direct promotion spot. This is because France, as host of the 2028 World Championship, has already secured its return to the top division and is therefore guaranteed promotion before the tournament even begins. Great Britain, Poland, Lithuania, Estonia, and Italy will compete for the second promotion spot.

Women's World Cup in Milan

The Italian Ice Sports Federation (FISG) achieved a major success by bringing the Women's World Championship Division I Group A to Milan. The tournament will be held from November 8th to 14th, 2027, at the Milano Ice Fiera Arena in Rho. The Italian women's national team will compete there for promotion to the top division.
