In the game against the Washington Capitals at Little Caesars Arena in Detroit, Kane recorded his 1375th career point. He received a standing ovation and thunderous applause.
He achieved this milestone in the second period with an assist, once again underlining his importance to his team's game. However, they ultimately lost to the Capitals 3-4 in a penalty shootout.
Two days earlier, the 37-year-old had already equaled the record when he contributed an assist in the home loss against the Los Angeles Kings. Now he stands alone at the top, leaving another major milestone of his career behind him.
In his 19th NHL season, Kane surpassed Mike Modano's long-standing record, which had been held since November 2007. With this achievement, Kane definitively joins the ranks of the league's most influential figures.
