Excitement in the NHL game between the Colorado Avalanche and the Edmonton Oilers: Avalanche superstar Nathan MacKinnon was ejected from the ice early in Tuesday's 3-4 loss after a collision with Oilers goalie Connor Ingram.

MacKinnon drove towards the goal during a scoring opportunity and collided with Ingram in the crease. The goalie immediately went down and appeared to be in pain. The referees issued a five-minute penalty for goaltender interference and a game misconduct penalty to the Canadian. After a lengthy video review, the decision stood.

Although Ingram was able to walk to the locker room on his own after treatment by medical staff, he had visible cuts to his head. Tristan Jarry came in for him and remained in goal at the start of the third period. Benjamin Hause was also on standby as an emergency backup.

The Oilers eventually capitalized on the situation and turned the game around to win 4-3.
