The Columbus Blue Jackets remain one of the hottest teams in the NHL and continue their impressive run. With a 5-2 victory against the Seattle Kraken at Nationwide Arena, Columbus extended their point streak to twelve games – and once again underlined how consistent and confident this team is right now.
The Blue Jackets set the stage for victory in the first period. Zach Werenski took on the role of playmaker, setting up three goals. With vision, speed, and precise passing, he unsettled the Krakens' defense early on and laid the foundation for his team's dominant performance. In goal, Elvis Merzlikins impressed with 15 saves, providing his team with the necessary confidence. This is paying off in the standings: Columbus remains hot on the heels of the Pittsburgh Penguins and is only one point behind second place in the Metropolitan Division.
Bruins defeat Red Wings
The Boston Bruins made a real statement in the fight for a playoff spot – thanks in large part to an outstanding performance by Jeremy Swayman. For much of the game, Detroit dominated. But the Red Wings repeatedly failed to get past Swayman, who made an outstanding 41 saves, giving his team a chance to stay in the game. Boston then turned up the heat offensively in the final period. Led by a strong Morgan Geekie, who set up three goals, the Bruins capitalized on their opportunities. David Pastrnak and Elias Lindholm each contributed a goal and an assist, playing a key role in the comeback.
