Dallas beats Seattle: Conference Finals have been decided

The Dallas Stars won the duel between the two surprise teams against the Seattle Kraken in the all-important seventh game and are moving into the penultimate round of the playoffs.

The Seattle Kraken lost game seven in the Western Conference semifinals against the Stars 1-2 on Monday evening (local time). The Texans will face the Vegas Golden Knights, who beat the Edmonton Oilers in six games, in the conference finals from Friday.

Germany's exceptional goalie Philipp Grubauer, who could now theoretically travel to the World Cup, played another strong game for the Kraken, but was largely powerless when it came to the two goals they conceded. At 1-0, Roope Hintz benefited from a puck loss in the Kraken's third and raced towards Grubauer without an opponent.

Wyatt Johnston made it 2-0 with a technical masterpiece and a shot at the near corner. Oliver Bjorkstrand's goal with 17,6 seconds left came too late.

In only the second year of its existence, the season was still a success for the Seattle Kraken; the team had prevailed in the previous round of the playoffs against defending champions Colorado Avalanche.

The playoff quarterfinals at a glance:

Florida Panthers – Toronto Maple Leafs 4-1
Carolina Hurricanes – New Jersey Devils 4:1
Vegas Golden Knights – Edmonton Oilers 4:2
