Detroit and Kasper continue their upward trajectory

The Detroit Red Wings continue to cause a sensation in the Atlantic Division. Together with Austrian Marco Kasper, they made another statement against the Winnipeg Jets.

Austrian player Marco Kasper contributed a goal and an assist to the Detroit Red Wings' 5-1 victory over the Winnipeg Jets in the NHL on Saturday (local time). The 21-year-old from Carinthia now has 12 points (5 goals, 7 assists) in 52 games this season. The other goals for his team were scored by JT Compher (twice), Lucas Raymond, and Alex DeBrincat.

"I think JT is a bit like a Swiss Army knife," said Detroit coach Todd McLellan, explaining the metaphor: "You can use him in many different situations." Compher had scored the equalizer in the second period and opened the scoring in the final period.

Fighting spirit leads to victory

Kasper sealed the victory with a spectacular counter-attack goal. "We simply fought back. We certainly didn't play our best in the first two periods. Of course, we want to start better, but it's good that we can win these games too," said Kasper.

Detroit is the leader in the Atlantic Division. Since November 29th, they have won 19 of 28 games, with four overtime losses.
