The last Canadians are out: Edmonton loses to Vegas

The Edmonton Oilers around ice hockey superstar Connor McDavid have to bury their NHL title dreams again. They had to give up in the playoff quarterfinals last night.

In game six of the series against the Vegas Golden Knights, the Oilers lost 2-5. The “Knights” from the desert state of Nevada moved into the final of the Western Conference with their fourth win and will meet the Seattle Kraken or the Dallas Stars. The score in this series is 3:3.

For the Oilers around their exceptional talents Connor McDavid and Leon Draisaitl, the season ends before the Stanley Cup Finals. After the Toronto Maple Leafs were eliminated, the traditional club from Alberta was the last team from the ice hockey motherland Canada remaining in the playoffs.

Marchessault scores three times

In the most important home game of the season, the hosts turned an early deficit into a 2-1 lead in the first three minutes, but then conceded a hat trick in the second period from Vegas professional Jonathan Marchessault. In the final minute, William Karlsson scored the final score into the empty Oilers goal.

McDavid made a big impact with the score temporarily 1-1, while Draisaitl did not contribute to the goal. With 13 goals, the German, who could now theoretically travel to the World Cup in Finland, clearly leads the top scorer list in the playoffs.
