The German center remains one of the Ottawa Senators' key players. In the 2-0 victory against the Vancouver Canucks, he extended his personal scoring streak in the final minute, initiating a counterattack that Olympic gold medalist Brady Tkachuk finished with a shot into the empty net.
Stützle has now recorded points in 13 consecutive games, accumulating eight goals and nine assists. During this stretch, Ottawa has won eight games and recorded points in a total of ten – a testament to his significant impact on the team's success.
Reimer with first shutout of the season
Despite the injury-related absence of defenseman Jake Sanderson, Ottawa impressed defensively. Backup goaltender James Reimer stopped all 16 shots and celebrated his first shutout of the season. The veteran goalie, who was only signed in January, made several strong saves. With 73 points, the Senators remain in the race for a playoff spot in the National Hockey League and are only a few points behind a wild card spot.
For Austria's ice hockey export Marco Rossi and Vancouver, however, the crisis continues: With only 46 points and a weak record, the Canucks remain at the bottom of the league.
The results from last night:
Columbus Blue Jackets – Los Angeles Kings 4:5 aetPhiladelphia Flyers – New York Rangers 2:6
Washington Capitals - Calgary Flames 7:3
Chicago Blackhawks – Utah Mammoth 3:2 aet
Vancouver Canucks – Ottawa Senators 0-2
