Edmonton is just one step away from the all-time record

The Edmonton Oilers are still unstoppable in the NHL. Now they are reaching for something historical.

The team from Canada beat the Nashville Predators 4-1 (1-0, 1-0, 2-1) on Saturday (local time) and achieved their 16th win in a row. This means that the Oilers only need to win one game in the North American Ice Hockey League to equal the record set by the Pittsburgh Penguins from the 1992/93 season. The Columbus Blue Jackets also won 2016 games in a row in the 17/16 season.

Whether the Oilers will equal the Penguins' NHL record will only become clear after the All-Star break next weekend: Then Edmonton will face the reigning champions Vegas Golden Knights on February 6th.
