Kane continues to shine: Red Wings extend winning streak

The Detroit Red Wings' winning streak continued against the Seattle Kraken. Meanwhile, the Minnesota Wild suffered a defeat.

Detroit won 6-2 at home, making it their seventh consecutive victory. The Red Wings hadn't managed that for almost 13 years. Superstar Patrick Kane once again played a key role in the success. The 36-year-old scored the 4-0 goal and also collected an assist. In the last seven games, he has an impressive 13 points.

Since a change of coach from Derek Lalonde to Todd McLellan shortly after Christmas, the Red Wings have lost only one of eight games. Kane's team can now dream of a playoff appearance again after a weak start to the season. Detroit is currently in tenth place in the Eastern Conference.

Despite its second clear defeat in the last three games, Minnesota is still clearly on course for the playoffs as third in the Western Conference. The Wild, who were weakened by a lack of replacements and whose top scorer Kiril Kaprizov was out, took the lead against the Vegas Golden Knights, but conceded an equalizer in the middle period and three more goals in the final period - the final score was 1:4. The Wild, who have won seven of their last ten games, continue their play at home against the Edmonton Oilers on Wednesday. Detroit hosts the San Jose Sharks on Tuesday.
