Marco Insam remains Ritten's leading figure in defense

With a wealth of experience and class, Marco Insam has held the Rittner Buam SkyAlps defense solid for the past three seasons. And that's not going to change in the 2025/26 season: The 36-year-old will be in charge of the Rittner back line for another year.

Marco Insam isn't getting any younger, but that doesn't change his class. The 1,88 meter, 92 kilogram native from Bolzano once again impressively demonstrated last season that he is an exceptional player in the Alps Hockey League. His instincts on the ice, with or without the puck, are remarkable; Insam rarely finds himself out of place. And when he does, he always uses his experience to bring calm back to the game. Born in Val Gardena and son of long-time Ritten sports director Adolf Insam, he has been writing Ritten's success story for the past three years and aims to add another chapter to it in the coming season.

His scoring numbers are also astonishing for a defenseman. His powerful one-touch shot is particularly effective on the power play, and he also possesses excellent vision, allowing him not only to initiate moves but also to find the final, decisive pass in the attacking third. Across all competitions, Insam contributed 66 points (51 goals) in 25 games. And on defense, the multiple Italian international consistently snuffs out dangerous shots without batting an eyelid, making himself a key asset for his goalkeepers Colin Furlong and Florian Plattner.

"He was the defenseman with the most goals and the third most points in the Alps Hockey League last season.
