McMonagle lets the Foxes celebrate against Villach

The first third had little to offer the 2078 spectators in the ice wave. After the first break, Foster had the best chance to make it 1-0, but Lamoureux excelled at his shot (23') and directed the puck onto the post. Even after that, the Foxes continued to dominate the game, but were unable to beat the Villach goalie. Shortly before the second break, the home team had another great opportunity to take the lead, but Saviano missed a penalty. Johner immediately shot the guests in front, but his hammer went just over.

Lamourex holds everything

In the final third, Lamoureux defused a Flemming shot with his pad (43'), later Gander failed to get the puck into the guests' box after a blueliner with the rebound (49'). There was still little or nothing to be seen of Villach. Even in the final phase, the Carinthians were able to rely on their goalkeeper, who saved twice from Pollastrone.

It went into overtime. Nageler had the opportunity there after a solo, but Hübl was at his post. But eventually overtime ended without a goal. Hübl and Lamoureux also excelled in the penalty shootout again and again before Sean McMonagle made the decision in favor of the home team.

McMonagle lets the Foxes celebrate against Villach

The EBEL continued with the 19th round on Friday evening after the international break. HCB Südtirol was also in action, winning the ice wave against Villacher SV 1-0 after a penalty shootout.
