Ryan Ginand completes the Broncos forward

Ginand (177 cm x 80 kg) comes from the Albany Devils, with whom he made his AHL debut at the end of March and collected 8 points in 8 games (2 goals and 6 assists). The lively goal getter with a strong nose for goals hasn't been given much in his career so far. In 2005, he moved from the third-tier Eastern Junior Hockey League to Northeastern University and began his NCAA career there as an undrafted nobody. The constant improvement of his team from the league's basement child with only three wins from 34 matches in the 2005/06 season to the second-best team in the Hockey East Division in the 2008/09 season was closely linked to Ginand's development, which continued until worked his way up to being a top-20 scorer in his senior year. It was not for nothing that he was elected to the Hockey East second all-star team in the 2008/09 season with 20 goals in 39 games.

In 2009, Ryan Ginand moved to the Herning Blue Fox in the Danish first division, but he couldn't cope with the style of play and the change in lifestyle, so his tryout contract was mutually terminated after just 10 games (4 goals and 3 assists). After a month without training, the Trenton Devils gave him a chance in the ECHL, where Ginand developed into one of the most important goal getters within just eight weeks and scored 20 goals and 11 assists in the last 10 games of the season.

Last year, Ginand started as one of his team's top stars and shot his way to the top of the team's scoring rankings with 68 points (75 goals and 29 assists) in 46 games, which he led by 25 points. His point output earned him a sixth-place finish in the ECHL's scoring standings, a nomination for the All-Star Game and selection to the league's second All-Star team. In addition to the persistence with which he pursues his goals, Ginand is particularly characterized by his spectacular play, his speed and his irresistible drive towards the goal. In Ginand's offensive statistics, which are not bad anyway, the number of shots on goal stands out again: In the last ECHL season, he fired an incredible 68 times at the opponent's goal in 402 games and led the league standings by an impressive 112 shots at. This meant he came within 41 shots on goal of Darren Colbourne's league record from the 1991/92 season and was able to enter the ECHL's all-time best list in second place.

Ryan Ginand even preferred the role as a sniper with the Broncos to a tryout offer from a DEL club in order to start his European career on the right foot at his second attempt. "I'm really looking forward to the coming season and want to prove that I can be an extremely dangerous goalscorer in Europe too," said the Broncos' youngest newcomer when signing the contract. Broncos head coach Oly Hicks is equally pleased with the signing: "Ryan Ginand is a perfect fit for our team, which is full of hungry players. Virtually everyone on this team has something to prove, and that is the best prerequisite for a great season!"
