Serie A2: Milan one win away from the championship title

The home team had everything to play for before the fifth game in this play-off final, while Val Gardena had to give up Julian Mascarin and Fabio Kostner. The Lombards, driven by the fanatical crowd, created numerous chances in the early stages. Peter Klouda, for example, hit the post, but Marcello Borghi then failed to put the rebound into the goal. However, the guests showed the expected reaction and became dangerous in the majority. In the final phase of the first third, Kevin Senoner took the lead after great work from Jamie Schaafsma.

The Canadian attacker, who has a Dutch passport, also played a key role in the goal in the second half of the game when Derek Eastman took advantage of a nice assist from Schaafsma to make it 2-0. But Milan didn't give up because of that, on the contrary. The Da Rin troupe acquired several top-class players, but Florian Grossgasteiger was the last stop. It wasn't until the 33.03 minute that Ryan Constant was able to beat the Val Gardena goalie with a powerful diagonal shot that he fired from the left side.

In the third third, Milan quickly corrected the balance of power. First, Peter Wunderer equalized after Klouda's assist (47.03), before Peruzzo even shot the Lombards into the lead just three minutes later. With 98 seconds left, captain Tommaso Migliore even made it 4-2 when he pushed the puck over the line after a Pikkarainen shot. That was the end of the game – one would have thought. But that wasn't all, because just 55 seconds before the end of regular time, Kostner's team made it 4:3 through Schaafsma. This gave the Ladins hope again. Milan was able to save their narrow lead over time.

With this success, Milan has placed a heavy burden on the title in the second division, as the Da Rin team is only one win away from triumph and the associated promotion to Serie A.
