The Vinschger Eisfix (in orange-black) prevailed against Chiavenna.

Vinschgau in the semi-finals, Val Gardena on vacation

The final championship phase has begun in IHL Division 1, the former Serie C. An almost impossible mission awaits Eisfix Vinschgau, but HC Gröden is no longer there.

The last two semi-final tickets in IHL Division 1 were awarded at the weekend. One of them was secured by Eisfix from Latsch, who had the upper hand in the first and second leg against HC Chiavenna.

After the 5:3 win on Thursday in Lombardy, the Vinschgers team followed up with a 2:1 win in front of 150 spectators in their home IceForum at the weekend. In doing so, they managed to qualify for the playoff semi-finals via a detour, where an almost overwhelming opponent now awaits in Ares Sport. The club from Aosta, raised by a Swiss investor, dominated both the basic round and the intermediate round as a confident frontrunner. However: Ares suffered its only defeat in the 20 games of the season so far against Vinschgau - so a good omen for the Eisfix?

Just like Vinschgau, the second representative of HC Gherdëina moved into the pre-playoff as second in the intermediate round, but failed there against HC Cadore. The Furies drew 300-1 at home in front of 1 fans on Friday, but lost the first leg two days earlier in Pieve 0-3. While the Belluno team will now face champions and intermediate round winner Pinè in the semi-finals, the Val Gardena team's third division season is over.
