The project is being promoted and developed by the Fondazione Fiera Milano as part of initiatives related to the legacy of the Milan-Cortina 2026 Winter Olympics. Regarding the speculation that has arisen in recent weeks about the possible establishment of a new ice hockey team in Milan, the federation clarified that President Andrea Gios is neither involved nor intends to assume a role in any potential future club management.
Within this framework, various solutions for the construction of a temporary structure in the Rho Fiera area – i.e., the exhibition grounds – which can accommodate sporting activities and events, are being examined together with the Fondazione Fiera Milano – as a first step in a process that aims in the long term for the construction of a modern, permanent facility that meets the needs of the city and the sports movement.
A new ICE location?
In this context, contact has already been established with the management of the Milano Devils Hockey Club. Supporting the large number of young athletes and fans in the city is a crucial factor for the sustainable development of the project, especially considering the excitement surrounding the Winter Olympics. With a newly formed ice hockey team, the ultimate goal is reportedly participation in the ICE Hockey League. Milan has a rich ice hockey tradition, having celebrated a total of 32 championships. At the Italian Cup Final Four, the city's passionate fans loudly demonstrated their love for the sport, creating some fantastic scenes.
