Ultra-triathlete Klotz passes Double Ironman World Championship

Extreme athlete Christian Klotz from Tscherms competed in the Double Ironman World Championships in Emsdetten (GER). While more than a quarter of the participants had to abandon the race, the South Tyrolean gritted his teeth until the very end.

"I finally made it, but it was really tough," Christian Klotz sums up after "passing" the World Championship test in Emsdetten. In 34-degree heat, the ultra-triathlete from Tscherms had to compete in a double (!) Ironman (7,72 km swim, 360,5 km bike ride, 84,4 km run).

"I had problems with my circulation while cycling in strong winds and climbing 1000 meters," said Klotz, who nevertheless persevered until the end. In the end, the South Tyrolean finished in a strong 17th place (out of 76 participants).

Athletes from 19 nations competed in the World Championships, with a total of 20 athletes having to abandon the race early. Not so for Klotz, who concluded: "I'm completely satisfied."
