Andreas Nicoletti honored on the Lahn

The South Tyrol Europeada team presented Andreas Nicoletti with a jersey during halftime of the match between Obermais and Vigasio. The Gargazon native has been unable to play football since suffering a cardiac arrest in the summer.

It was a shocking moment for South Tyrolean football. At the beginning of July, Andreas Nicoletti collapsed during a friendly match between the Europeada team and Unterhaching in Schlanders.

Because the young Obermais player, who has since recovered well from the incident, is no longer allowed to play football, he was symbolically presented with a Europeada jersey on Sunday. South Tyrol's selection coach Manuel Sullmann was also present, as were delegation leader Sigfried Stocker and assistant coach Peter Unterregelsbacher.

"Nico," who would have been promoted to Serie D with Obermais, was also celebrated by the Curva Sud. The Obermais fan section created a goosebump-inducing atmosphere, even though the 27-year-old midfielder will probably never play on the pitch again – especially since playing football with a pacemaker is strictly forbidden in Italy.
