Brutal headbutt: Major league player banned for months

Anaune defender Simone Faes' headbutt against Paulsner striker Jonas Clementi made waves in amateur football. Now the sports judge is taking tough action.

The league match between Anaune and St. Pauls on Wednesday a week ago was overshadowed by a bad scene. After around half an hour, Anaune defender Simone Faes blew all the fuses during a break in the game and brutally knocked down Jonas Clementi from Pauls with a headbutt (SportNews berichtete).


This scene caused great outrage in amateur football. Now the sports judge has taken on this case and taken harsh measures in his ruling. Malefactor Faes has been banned until May 31, 2024. So he will not be allowed to play any more games this season.

The sports judge justified his decision as follows: “Because he hit a player of the opposing team with a headbutt on the nose during a break in the game, causing him to suffer a fracture of the nasal septum (particularly serious assault).”
