What’s happening in South Tyrol’s amateur leagues

The European Football Championship in Germany is in full swing, the Europeada - also in Germany and parts of Denmark - is just around the corner. But for South Tyrol's amateur footballers, all of this only plays a minor role, because they have to prepare their teams for the coming season. A lot has happened in the last few days and weeks.

Cherms Marling is about to start its first season in the regional league. The newly promoted team has confirmed most of the squad and also coach Hansi Mair. Newcomers are strikers Johannes Höllrigl (Morter) and Nik Lochmann (Völlan Tisens), who are moving from the 2nd amateur league to the regional league. Martin Telfser from Plaus reinforces the goalkeeper trio. Signs point to the departure of central defender Christof Auer.

In the 1st Amateur League, Alex Sincich has decided to stay with Ultimo The coach is now entering his second full season. He will have to do without strikers Kevin Platzgummer (Gargazon) and Alex Vecchio (Auer), who have both moved to league rivals. Olympia Merano, which is aiming for the title, has strengthened its squad with the Caula brothers Antonio and Alessandro from St. Martin Moos. The latter is a goalkeeper and was trained at FC Südtirol, his younger brother Antonio Caula is an attacking player. Schluderns has strengthened its team with Leonard Kahlert (Partschins) after the last-minute relegation. However, the Upper Vinschgau team has to let its goalkeeper Alex Paulmichl move to the regional league team Latsch. Schluderns league competitor SC Passeier has brought back two defenders, Luca Mercuri and Noah Trompedeller. Oberau will rely on the services of midfield technician Simone Scudier (Ritten) and dribbler Gianmaria Conci (Naturns) in the battle for promotion.

SPG Gsies: Reinforcements for Berndt Mair

In the East Group of the 1st Amateur League Albeins can count on a new coach. Kurt Volgger is moving from St. Georgen to the former regional league team, which is longing for stability after two disastrous seasons. SPG Gsies has not only a new coach in Berndt Mair, but also some new players on board: goalkeeper Elias Zitturi (St. Georgen), Marc Peintner (Rasen Antholz) and Fabian Unterhuber (Bruneck) are the best known names.
