The big showdown: Who will be relegated from the Oberliga?

On the last matchday of the Oberliga there is a real relegation final, in which two of the four teams have to go to the regional league. Three South Tyrolean teams are also involved.

For the third to last Stegen the starting position is clear. With a home win against St. Pauls the Pusterers would be saved. However, the guests from Überetsch would like to at least get one point in order to secure second place in the table. “I read that our record against St. Pauls (2:11 wins; Note d. Red.) is balanced. The good thing is that we have a home game. Everyone knows what it’s about,” explained Stegen’s sporting director Werner Unterhofer SportNews-Demand.

In this final, Stegen will have to do without Fabian Hellweger, Felix Messner and Hannes Dejaco, among others, who are normally part of the regular staff. It was already clear in advance that things could be difficult for Stegen this year. In the summer, for example, captain Julian Bacher and Philipp Piffrader left the club for St. Georgen and Bruneck, respectively.

“With a win we have relegation in our own hands.” Stegen's sports director Werner Unterhofer

“We started really strong. The two derby defeats against St. Georgen at the end of October may have given us a slight headache. The second half of the season was miserable at times. But we caught ourselves again in the last few games. Now we have to put everything in again. We have it in our own hands,” said Unterhofer.

Naturns (with photographer Matthias Bacher) and Bozner FC meet directly.

There will be a direct duel between the Bolzano Talferwiesen Bolzano FC and Naturno, both of which are currently above the line. However, if Stegen were to win, a draw would not be enough for the capital city team and the Untervinschgers to stay in the league. The penultimate Dro would also still have a theoretical chance with an away win in Levico. So tension and drama are inevitable.
