The Morini effect: Gitschberg unstoppable

Gitschberg Jochtal is in outstanding form. On Saturday, Patrizio Morini's team celebrated their next victory on the 21st matchday of the Landesliga.

During the winter break, Gitschberg Jochtal changed coaches: Stefan Putzer had to leave, and Patrizio Morini took his place. And the most flamboyant coach in South Tyrolean football immediately turned Gitschberg into a winning machine. On Saturday, Lukas Hofer and his teammates beat Weinstraße Süd 2-0, celebrating their fifth victory in six second-half matches.

In a closely contested match, Manuel Pasquazzo scored the opening goal for Morini's team immediately after the restart, and Lukas Hofer sealed the victory with his 14th goal of the season shortly before the final whistle. Gitschberg now sits within striking distance of third place in the table, currently held by Olimpia Meran (one point ahead, one game in hand).

Bruneck and Lana show reactions

Bruneck, meanwhile, has returned to winning ways. The Puster Valley team, who stumbled against Gitschberg Jochtal last weekend, swept aside bottom-of-the-table Schenna with a 4-0 victory.

Lana also showed a strong response: After their humiliating 1-9 defeat against Tscherms Marling, the Burggräfler team celebrated a 2-1 victory in their relegation battle against Freienfeld. Salurn, meanwhile, prevailed 2-0 against Gargazon thanks to a brace from Fabio Bertoldi. Terlan won 1-0 away at Stegen.
