Three-way battle for second place: Things are getting hot in the national league

The 27th matchday of the national league concluded on Sunday. With three games still to play, the league is in a hot phase. In addition to the fight to stay in the league, the race for second place is heating up.

Bruneck and Salurn continue to march forward in lockstep. Both the Pusterers and the Unterlandlers are tied for second place in the table with three rounds to go, which normally means qualification for the promotion games to the top league. However, only the future will show whether second place is even enough for a playoff this season. For the time being, there are only two places available in the upper league for the respective national league champions.

After two games without a win, Bruneck has impressively returned to the road to success. Thanks to goals from Thomas Piffrader, Fabian Unterhuber and Stefan Nagler, Roberto Fuschini's team beat Ahrntal 3-1. Salurn celebrated a 2-0 away win against Ridnaun. A few minutes before the end of the game, Salurn's Leo Facchini proved to be the decisive factor in the game: when the score was 1-0, the goalkeeper saved a penalty and thereby secured three points for his team.

Tor festival in Latsch

The game between Latsch and Val Gardena ended with a spectacular 3:3. The Vinschgers showed a lot of morale. Despite being two goals behind at one point, the fourth-placed team managed a draw thanks to Fabian Lechner's two goals. Latsch is slowly running out of steam in the fight for second place. For the second time in a row, the black and whites missed important points.

Weinstraße Süd gained significant breathing room in the fight to stay in the league. The Unterlanders celebrated a 3-2 win at home against Terlan and are now in 10th place in the table. Masters Brixen are still undefeated. The Domstadt team won 3-0 away at Voran Leifers.
