A major novelty in South Tyrolean amateur football
The new season in amateur football is getting closer and closer. On Thursday, the South Tyrolean regional committee announced the district division from the Oberliga to the 3rd amateur league. In the course of this, the association also communicated a new development that affects the 1st and 2nd amateur leagues.

117 teams will start in the new South Tyrolean amateur football championships on August 31st and September 1st. 9 in the Oberliga, 16 in the Landesliga, 28 each in the 1st and 2nd Amateur Leagues and 36 in the 3rd Amateur League. "We are very satisfied with the registrations," says association president Klaus Schuster.
The division of the districts in the 2nd amateur league was eagerly awaited, and this year it will be split into two groups instead of three. "We have found a very good balance between east and west," says Schuster happily. The exact district division of the 2nd Amateur League can be found here.

The 2nd Amateur League also involves another major innovation in South Tyrolean amateur football. For the first time, an overall champion will be crowned in both the 1st Amateur League and the 2nd Amateur League. This means that at the end of the championship, the winner of Group A will face the champion of Group B. "This is another highlight and a special incentive: becoming champion of 28 teams is something special," says President Klaus Schuster.
However, this grand finale has no impact on promotion: In the 1st amateur league, the two champions are promoted to the state league, and in the 2nd amateur league, it is even the champions and runners-up of both groups who make the jump to the next higher division.
