Against 10 Traminers: Val Gardena shows its fighting spirit

The focus of the 23rd matchday of the Oberliga was on the duel between the struggling Tramin and Gröden teams. In the end, the points were shared – partly because Gröden staged a comeback.

Things aren't going well for Tramin and Gröden in the second half of the season. The injury-plagued team from the lower valley (currently missing Alex Pfitscher, Simon Greif, and Philipp Rabensteiner, among others) has lost six of its seven matches so far, while the Ladin team is languishing at the bottom of the table, with relegation to the Landesliga (regional league) a real possibility. The two clubs met in Tramin on Sunday and drew 2-2. Those neutral spectators who were there on this overcast day certainly weren't bored.

Tramin took the lead after just five minutes: The impressive Armin Stuefer combined with Leo Gutmann and scored with their first shot on goal to make it 1-0. Things then took a bizarre turn: Matthias Dissertori, who had only just been added to the starting lineup to replace his somewhat ailing brother Simon Dissertori, pulled out a last-ditch tackle – earning a red card after 22 minutes. Despite being down to ten men, Tramin increased their lead to 2-0 after the break: Rafael Pomella's penalty was perfectly placed.

And what about Gröden? Even with an extra man, they struggled for a long time, but then Antonio Volino scored twice within three minutes. First, the whirlwind fired a powerful shot into the net (54th minute), then he remained ice-cold from the penalty spot (foul on Jan Martin Vinatzer) (57th minute). That was all they could muster, and so the match ended in a draw.

St. Georgen exacerbates Brixen's situation

St. Georgen celebrated an important victory, defeating Brixen 2-0. Hernan Behiratche was the match-winner with a brace. While St. Georgen is slowly but surely leaving the relegation zone behind, Brixen is teetering on the brink of the Landesliga (regional league). Safety is six points away.

Ahrntal made a statement: In front of their home crowd, Teldra snatched a point from league leaders Virtus Bozen. The match in Ahrntal ended 0-0. Partschins also drew against Benacense (1-1), while St. Pauls (0-4 against Rovereto) and Bozner FC (1-2 against Lavis) came away empty-handed.
