Against Ahrntal: Virtus completes the triple

Virtus Bozen has crowned its dream season: The soon-to-be Serie D club has now won the regional cup after winning the Oberliga cup.

The Oberliga champions won the state cup final on Saturday evening on the artificial turf pitch in Freienfeld against Ahrntal with a score of 2-1 in front of around 250 spectators. Teldra will therefore have to wait longer for this trophy, having lost the final against Olimpia Meran two years ago.

Ahrntal took a 1-0 lead against Virtus Bozen after a well-worked goal. Once again, it was 34-year-old Stefan Pareiner who simply had to tap the ball in, having secured Ahrntal's survival in the league just under a week prior. In what was, at least for the time being, his last game for Ahrntal, Pareiner missed out on cup glory as Virtus Bozen turned the game around.

Arnaldo Kaptina scored the winning goal with a header. The younger brother of Virtus coach Elis scored after a cross from Andrea Bussi, who had already equalized with a spectacular free kick. Both teams were determined to win, and the game became increasingly heated in the second half. In the end, Virtus also had goalkeeper Enrico Bresolin to thank, who made several excellent saves.

State Cup: The Final

0:1 Pareiner (23rd), 1:1 Bussi (38th), 2:1 Kaptina (60th)
