Against Tramin: The special Paulsner derby hero

The 12th Oberliga matchday was dominated by the ancient derby between St. Pauls and Tramin. In the end, the three points went to the Überetsch team - thanks in part to a special player.

Actually, Philip Degasperi is a defensive midfielder who plays in front of the defence of St Pauls is primarily responsible for clearing the ball and building up the game in an orderly manner. But in recent weeks, the 21-year-old has repeatedly slipped into the role of goal scorer – or rather, game-decider. This was also the case on Sunday against Termeno, when the midfielder was in the right place after a free kick and scored the celebrated winning goal to make it 2-1.

What is particularly strange is that Degasperi had already scored the decisive goal in each of Paulsner's last two home games against St. Georgen (1:0) and Brixen (2:1). But today's goal on Sunday was a very special one, since St. Pauls and Tramin have always had a rivalry that is unique in South Tyrol, which is why the duel between the two traditional clubs is known as the ancient derby. Before Degasperi's winning goal, Alessandro Bertuolo had put his Paulsner in the lead (33'), and Claus Drescher then managed to equalize (55').

While St. Pauls has now moved up to fifth place in the table thanks to a remarkable improvement in form in recent weeks, last year's runner-up Tramin remains in the lower midfield of the Oberliga.

Three weeks ago, the attacking tank suffered an open fracture of the nose, but he returned to the field in record time and shot the Obermaiser team to victory.

Meanwhile, high-flyer Partschins against the Bolzano FC celebrated. The celebrated hero on the pitch was midfielder Noah Schweitzer, who shone with a brace.
