Home win and record number of participants at the Don Promillos Cup

Two days full of emotions, thrilling matches, and a fantastic atmosphere: The eighth edition of the Don Promillos Cup at the Ritten Arena was a complete success. In ideal weather conditions, 52 teams competed for goals, titles, and trophies – a new record number of participants for the popular small-sided tournament, which has long since become a fixture in the Ritten summer calendar.

The Ritten club tournament kicked off on Friday evening, held for the second time. Twelve clubs competed in exciting matches – ultimately, as in the previous year, the Lengstein Farmers' Youth team prevailed. The team led by "football god" Klaus Tauferer impressively confirmed its role as favorites, defeating Team Zeitgeist in the final.

The main competition was held on Saturday. 28 men's teams competed – and for the first time, a local team won the title: Holzfiaß from Unterinn crowned their strong tournament performance with a 1-0 final victory against Team Difigiano. Also on the winning team were the young talents from Ritten, Paul Apeh and Simon Larcher, the latter recently transferring to Obermais in Serie D.

Ronald Aichhorner of the Sarner team Sunntingar Hoem Tien secured the title of top scorer. He set a new tournament record with 18 goals. The tournament's All-Star team also featured a top-class lineup: Johannes Prast (Holzfiaß) was named best goalkeeper, Lukas Palese (Die Knedl) and David Reiterer (Gr Bacotz) impressed in defense, and Paul Apeh (Holzfiaß) and Aichhorner shone in attack.

Twelve teams competed in the women's tournament in the afternoon—also a record. The tournament victory went to the Tacchibirrine team, led by Elena Bertamini, who won a close 1-0 final and lifted the trophy for the first time.

The celebrations continued long after the awards ceremony – a fitting conclusion to a tournament that set standards not only in terms of sport but also in terms of partying. With anticipation for the ninth edition in June 2026, one thing is already clear: the Don Promillos Cup has firmly established itself in the regional football scene.
