State League: A preliminary decision and a spectacle

Five matches were played on Sunday, the 18th matchday of the Landesliga. A preliminary decision in the title race may have been made.

Second-placed Naturns could only manage a 1-1 draw at home against Lana. In the first leg, Naturns had already struggled against relegation-threatened Lana, losing 0-2. This result increases the gap to league leaders Bruneck to eight points. Of course, there are still 12 rounds to go, including their head-to-head match, but if Bruneck continues in this form, they will be difficult to catch.

Olimpia Meran sits in third place behind Naturns. The newly promoted team, under player-coach Elvin Reka, secured their third win in three games with a 2-1 victory against Schenna. Patrizio Morini's Gitschberg Jochtal clinched a late 1-0 win against Freienfeld. Meanwhile, Voran Leifers defeated Stegen 2-0 at home.

The Wine Route wins spectacularly

A spectacular match unfolded in the Unterland region between Weinstraße Süd and Latsch. After Latsch had turned a 0-2 deficit into a 3-2 lead, Weinstraße Süd ultimately prevailed 4-3 with two goals in stoppage time. Ironically, it was... the striker Thierno Diagne, who recently made headlines doubly so in the case of a home win.
