Regional League: Olimpia Meran wins the top match

Three matches took place in the regional league on Saturday afternoon. Olimpia Meran won the top-of-the-table clash against Gitschberg Jochberg.

Olimpia Meran narrowly won the top-of-the-table Landesliga match against Gitschberg Jochtal 2-1. In the clash between third-placed Meran and sixth-placed Gitschberg Jochtal, a penalty from Armando Kozi (53') proved decisive. Luca Fedel had previously given the spa town side the lead with a header. The home team's consolation goal (78') came too late.

Schenna, languishing at the bottom of the table, can likely start planning for relegation to the first amateur league. The bottom-placed team in the Landesliga lost the Burgraviate derby against Lana 1-3. Giocondo opened the scoring with a spectacular long-range shot into the top left corner after just a few seconds (2'). Grezzani then won a penalty, which he converted himself (10'). After Perri made it 3-0 from close range (24'), the game was effectively over. Schenna managed to pull one back, but that was as close as they got. Jakob Gögele also missed a penalty, his shot saved by Lana goalkeeper Santer (71'). For coach Kurt Forer's team, these three points are crucial – especially since Freienfeld showed signs of life with a 3-2 away win against Stegen.
