State Cup: Of penalty thrillers and shooting festivals

The second round of the national amateur league cup was played on Wednesday evening. Here are the results.

In the only league duel of the day, Stegen beat defending champion St. Pauls 7-6 on penalties. After regular time it was 3:3. New striker Philipp Bachlechner played a major role in the Puster team's home win with a brace. But not just St. Pauls: other upper league clubs have already been eliminated, such as Tramin, Lana and Partschins, which each lost to a regional league team.

Naturns, on the other hand, struggled to reach penalties against 2nd Amateur League club Laag, but ultimately prevailed against Max Dalpiaz & Co. Otherwise there were further outsider victories. Eyrs, for example, eliminated Überetsch in the first round. Now the Vinschger club from the 3rd amateur league advanced again against a team from the 1st amateur league - namely against Gargazon. Natz (1st amateur league), however, beat regional league newcomers Kiens 3-2.

Kastelbell Tschars (2nd amateur league) prevailed in the Vinschger duel against Plaus (1st amateur league). The same constellation occurred in the game between Jenesien and Schluderns, which even ended 4-0. Upper division team St. Georgen, on the other hand, got rid of their league frustration and shot down Plose (1st amateur league) 9-0. State league title favorites Brixen, however, were eliminated on penalties at Ahrntal. Terlan caused a sensation with a 6-2 win against St. Martin Moos.
