Only one thing is certain in the Oberliga relegation battle: Val Gardena and Bressanone will be relegated. However, another team is still to be determined. Before the final matchday, Ahrntal, St. Pauls, and Lavis are all tied for third-to-last place with 34 points. Union Trento (36 points) is also not yet safe. And theoretically, any of these teams could still overtake Tramin (37 points).
The relegation battle is once again the highlight of the Oberliga season. Ahrntal hosts Partschins on the final matchday, St. Pauls travels to Gröden, and Lavis plays Mori away – for their opponents, there's nothing left to play for, but for the three relegation candidates, everything is at stake. Should more than two teams be tied on points after the final round, a special table based on head-to-head results ("classifica avulsa") will be created. The two bottom-placed teams in this special table will then play a decisive match to determine who stays in the league.
For St. Pauls, the situation after the penultimate matchday could have been better. The young team from the Überetsch region fought bravely against Virtus Bozen and, thanks to an acrobatic goal by Denis Recla, led 1-0 until the final minutes. A victory against the already crowned champions would have been anything but undeserved, but in the end, Bozen managed to equalize: A cross from Matteo Timpone landed perfectly at the feet of Andrea Bussi, who headed home to make it 1-1 (87').
Shooting festival in Partschins
Ahrntal suffered a 0-3 away defeat at Comano, while Lavis celebrated a clear 4-0 victory against Gröden. The most spectacular match took place in Partschins, where the home side and Tramin drew 3-3. The struggling Tramin team led 2-0 at halftime and 3-2 until shortly before the end, when Olaf Stark scored the equalizer in the final minute.Oberliga, 29th matchday – the results
