Mythos Morktplotz: A long-awaited premiere victory

The 34th edition of Mythos Morktplotz crowned its champion on Saturday: The Montiggler Strategen won the title for the first time. This is a team that has been coming to the country's most famous small-field tournament for years and has consistently entered with title aspirations.

What an incredible edition of Mythos Morktplotz! The country's most legendary small-field tournament celebrated a fitting finale on Saturday, seamlessly continuing the tradition of previous tournaments.

The Montiggl Strategists emerged victorious. The team, comprised of well-known players from the country's amateur leagues, has consistently arrived with title aspirations and is a long-standing fixture in the tournament. However, the Strategists had never quite managed to pull off the ultimate triumph. A 1-0 victory over the Ringen Teifl finally brings the coveted trophy to the Eppan contingent.

The 34th edition once again delivered a fantastic experience for the numerous spectators in the Morktplotz Arena. Exciting duels, a unique atmosphere, and an exceptionally high level of play ensure that the legend lives on – and more vividly than ever before.
In nearly 100 matches, the Mythos Morktplotz offered everything a football fan could wish for. On the final day, however, the level of play was raised significantly. This is evident in the fact that only one match from the round of 16 onwards was decided by more than one goal. Almost every game could have gone the other way with a bit of luck for the losing team.

Worthy winners

Nevertheless, the Montiggl strategists are a worthy winner. On their way to the final, they eliminated some of the top-seeded teams. In the final, they ultimately faced the Ringen Teifl. For the team with players from the Brixen area, it was their second final appearance after 2021. An early goal by Stefan Clementi, who hammered the ball into the net from distance, proved decisive. Afterwards, in front of a breathtaking crowd, the Ringen Teifl tried everything to turn the game around, while the Montiggl team launched dangerous counter-attacks. And more importantly: their defense held firm. At the final whistle, their jubilation knew no bounds.

Third place went to Hellas Corona, also from Brixen. The winner of the 31st edition prevailed in a penalty shootout against Knedl from Jenesien.

As always, individual achievements were also recognized. Maxi Mair of the Ringen Teifl was named best goalkeeper of the tournament. Anton Schwarz of the Knedl was awarded best defender. Lukas Acherer was named best striker. René Sanna of Erotico Madrid was the top scorer with five goals. Willi Hvala, also from Hellas Corona, was named most handsome player. Manuel Scavelli of the tournament winners was named best player.
