After thrashing: Regional league team's appeal is rejected

Just under two weeks ago, Tscherms Marling inflicted a 1-9 thrashing on SV Lana in the Burggräfler Landesliga derby. However, Lana subsequently contested the result, but without success.

Lana's appeal was already mentioned in the last newsletter. The relegation-threatened Landesliga club requested that the sports judge rule that Tscherms Marling had made five substitutions during five different stoppages in play. According to Lana, this meant the home team had exceeded the limit of three substitutions.

Tscherms Marling subsequently requested the dismissal of the appeal, arguing that no such regulation exists in amateur football – and the fifth-placed team was proven right. This was confirmed by the sports judge in a circular issued today, Thursday. Lana must also pay a fine of 500 euros to cover procedural costs.

This rule does not apply to amateur players.

The sports tribunal cited the rulebook. The clear wording of the provision states that this substitution restriction does not apply to territorial amateur championships. Furthermore, the sports judge noted that Lana itself had made more than three substitutions in more than three stoppages of play in previous matches.

Tscherms Marling won the derby against Lana 9:1.

The sports judge therefore assumes that the appeal here is merely aimed at obtaining a sporting result that is fundamentally in contradiction to the result achieved on the playing field.
