Naturns keeps the Landesliga title race exciting

On matchday 22 of the Landesliga, SSV Naturns increased the pressure on league leaders SSV Bruneck. The team from the lower Vinschgau region capitalized on Bruneck's slip-up on Sunday.

After Bruneck's 0-0 draw in the top match against Olimpia Meran, Naturns secured a clear 4-2 victory against Salurn the following day. The win was decisive because Patrick Fliri's team had taken a 4-0 lead and only conceded two goals late in the game. Top strikers Thomas Mair (who scored his 21th and 22th goals of the season) and Tobias Pichler put Naturns 3-0 up after just over 20 minutes, effectively sealing the victory.

In the standings, Naturns closed the gap to Bruneck to just five points. At the same time, the Yellow-Blues, with their third consecutive Landesliga victory, increased their lead over third-placed Meran to eight points. Tscherms Marling, on the other hand, lost their top form, suffering a 0-1 home defeat against Latsch. Leifers (4-2 against Freienfeld) and Weinstraße Süd (4-3 against Schenna), however, celebrated high-scoring home wins.

Natz and his home strength

Newly promoted Natz continues to make waves in the Landesliga. The Eisack Valley side celebrated their eighth consecutive home win with a 3-0 victory against Lana – a truly impressive record. Leo Tauber scored his 13th goal of the season. Lana, on the other hand, continues to struggle this season. Kurt Forer's team did, however, benefit from the simultaneous slip-ups of their rivals.
