Naturns loses: The door for Bruneck is wide open

SSV Naturns suffered a narrow defeat on the 27th matchday of the Landesliga – leaving the door to the championship wide open for league leaders Bruneck.

Bruneck suffered a minor setback on Saturday, conceding a goal against Terlan deep into stoppage time. still the goal to make it 1-1 final scoreThis would have allowed Naturns, currently in second place, to gain ground in their away match against already relegated Freienfeld. However, it wasn't to be: Matthias Ganterer scored the only goal of the day in the 54th minute, securing the home side's fifth win of the season. Naturns, meanwhile, only has a mathematical chance of remaining in the title race.

With three matchdays remaining, the gap to Bruneck is nine points. The rivals from the Puster Valley only need one more point, or another slip-up from Naturns, to secure the title and the associated promotion to the Oberliga. A victory over Naturns would have made the duel truly exciting once again: after all, the two teams face each other in Bruneck on the penultimate matchday.

Tscherms Marling fights back twice

Naturns' continued six-point lead over third place is also thanks to Tscherms Marling. The sixth-placed team took the lead in the first half against Olimpia Meran, but a quickfire double from the hosts caught the Marling side off guard. Raphael Schötzer leveled the score at 2-2 in the 70th minute with his second goal of the day, and shortly after Dino Agovic put Olimpia ahead 3-2 in the 81st minute, Schötzer completed his hat trick in a thrilling finale, securing a point with the 3-3 equalizer in the 83rd minute.

Leifers triumphed 4-1 in their match against Gargazon, who were next to each other in the standings. Gitschberg Jochtal, meanwhile, dispatched Latsch 5-2. Latsch, however, must continue to keep a close eye on the relegation zone in the final matchdays: the first relegation spot is only six points away.
